I had no idea those RSS feeds were available either. Thanks for pointing that out, Eric. Following that new releases feed sounds like a great way to stay on top of what becomes available.

Wouldn't it be great if more data streams like that were made available by different organizations?

I agree. It seems newspapers continue to battle these technologies and how they will use them to publish news, but what about just launching an initiative that better engaged them with their readers? What about a blog from the perspective of the newspaper where readers could add thoughts about the reporting process and how things were covered?

I was surprised to find that my local library even has RSS feeds for new releases. I simply subscribe to the New DVD Releases feed http://kplcatalog.ci.ankeny.ia.us:81/ipac/rss/dvdrss.xml and then when I see a movie I want to watch I can use the website to put a hold on it and when the movie is available I get an automated email message.

You would think other industries would see this kind of technology adaptation and embrace it as well - newspapers come to mind.
