Coming from St. Louis, it looks too much like the Arch, especially the way the buildings seem to fall under the arch as they do with respect to height in St. Louis. Still, it sure beats the old one. They should have held a design competition and then a public vote. Or, alternatively, we could just use Sean Johnson's face as our logo, Hi-Vee "winning smile" and all.

I don't see what people are whining about. Nor do I understand any similarity to anything involved with "Up With People." They should take a look around at DM-area suburbs who have updated their logo in recent years -- Ankeny, Urbandale, and I think even Pleasant Hill's logo recently got a makeover. Altoona got a new logo, but I think it's pretty ugly. So why did we stick with the old bridges logo for so long?I do think there's been a renaissance in Des Moines, particularly downtown. This logo adequately reflects the new Des Moines. We went a REALLY long time with the old logo, and the time has definitely come to retire the old bridges logo.
